Summer is here, which means it’s time to party! Graduations, birthdays, and barbecues are even more festive when a swimming pool is involved. When planning the perfect summer pool party, the first step is to choose a theme and send out the invites. While the quickest, easiest way is to email them, what fun is that? There are so many creative sayings and designs you can use to invite your guests to celebrate summer fun! Here are some of our favorites.

Choose your design. Pick a theme for your party and make the invitation a unique shape. You could make it look like a pool with a bright blue pool liner, and have floaties in it. Or, you could pick a popular water animal such as a dolphin, whale, or turtle. Flip flops, beach balls, tubes or floaties, sunglasses, bikinis, and popsicles are other whimsical shapes you could choose as the background for your pool party invitation. They can also be used to illustrate the invite should you choose a more basic shape. Make the colors bright and fun! If you are extra creative and have a little bit of time on your hands, buy blow-up beach balls for your prospective guests. Blow the balls up and write the party details carefully on the balls with a permanent marker. Let the ink dry and deflate them. Send them flat to your guests and instruct them to blow them up.

Select your wording
. You can really be creative with the wording of your invitation. Summer flies by so fast, so why not be thematic with your invite? Use words related to water to make a play on words. The following are some we love: Dive in to our Party, Suit up and Swim, Let’s be Cool by the Pool, It’s a Splash Bash, Make a Splash, Have a Whale of a Time, Get Your Swim On, Take a Summer Plunge, Fun in the Sun, and Let’s Make Waves. The possibilities are endless! Don’t forget to include all the crucial information: date (rain date if you are worried about the weather), time, theme, what to bring, and RSVP info.

Finish the planning. Once you have sent out the invites and are awaiting RSVPs, it’s time to plan, plan, plan. Choose a menu and decorations—matching the theme of your invite. Make sure your LOOP-LOC lined swimming pool and surrounding outdoor area is clean and inviting, with ample seating for everyone. Skim the pool a few hours before the party, and walk around to make sure the area is safe. Have plenty of cold water and sunscreen on hand for your guests, so they can hydrate—and protect their skin. Finally, post pool rules throughout the area. Use the same illustrative theme as you did for your invitations to tie everything together. Rules like no running, no diving, and stay away from the drain are helpful.

Relax—the hard work is done! Greet your guests with a smile and enjoy your party. You earned it!
